It's a...Girl!

Wecouldn't have been more surprised and pleased to find out that we're having a little girl. The ultrasound tech waited until the very end to explore the nether regions in search of tell tale signs. When we finally got there, the baby had its legs so tightly squeezed together that we couldn't tell the gender. We came back a few minutes later and still the baby's legs were tightly clamped together. The perinatologist came in and almost immediately identified the gender...a little girl. She said she could see two parrallel lines that almost always indicates a girl. She said she wasn't 100%, but it sure didn't take her long to pronounce that we were having a girl.

Scott and I thought for sure that we were having a boy because when the legs parted the slightest bit, we thought we could see little man parts. However, they told us that was the umbilical cord (oops). I congratulated our little girl on keeping her legs tightly closed and told her she's expected to keep them that way for a very long time : )

The baby looked great in every other respect. She weighs about 10 ounces and is measuring at 19 weeks, 2 days. On the fetal growth chart, she weighs in around the 36th percentile, but that's just fine. She has plenty of time to grow.

We've decided that our little girl has Scott's feet (they're a bit blocky) and my pointy nose. I guess we'll find out for sure in about 20 weeks.
